Dubai Economy proudly presented the preview of the to be launched App “Engage  DXB” at the event. Darshan Shetty from DED spoke to members of the benefits of the App as a platform that would connect the business community with various groups and councils along with Dubai Economy.

Dharmendra Sawlani – President of DCG highlighted the work DCG had undertaken in 2017 and the future plans to enhance the scope of business and benefits to members. He also emphasized the importance of membership expansion and DCG’s engagement with various government bodies to help the progress of IT business community. 

Khalaf Al Otaiba Chairman of DCG on his closing remarks thanked all members for their support and active participation in all of DCG endeavors. 

Speaking to the press on board the Cruise, Dharmendra Sawlani – President of DCG applauded the growth of Dubai Computer Group from a perceived group of IT traders to a diverse business group with software companies, solution providers, major IT distributors & large IT vendors as its members now.

As interim convener, Suchit Kumar briefed the regulatory obligations to the first time Board members and opened the forum for Co-opting 2 additional members and appointment of Office Bearers.

On the proposal from senior member Rakesh Bohra, the names of ex-President Shailendra Rughwani and Suchit Kumar were Co-opted with consensus.

The Board unanimously accepted the resolution of the previous Board and nominated Khalaf Al Otaiba to the Board and to the post of Chairman.

All the office bearers positions proposed got unanimously supported by the Board members and Dharmendra Sawlani was elected as President, Ashok Kumar as Vice President, Suchit Kumar as General Secretary and Sanjay Bansal as Treasurer

As President of DCG, Dharmendra Sawlani said “It is an honor for me to be elected as the President after serving on the DCG board as General Secretary for three years. With this honor comes great responsibility. I am hoping to live up to the expectations and do justice to the faith placed in me. I will endeavor to help our members triumph over the challenges we face in today’s ever evolving business landscape.”

He added, “Our objective as a team will be to work towards goal of increasing USPIGE (Unity, Security, Profitability, integrity, Growth & Education) in our industry. These goals were set by our founding members and hold value to date. We have many ideas and now with the help of young dynamic team it is the time to “Make Ideas Happen”.

Suchit Kumar expressed his gratitude to the Board for re-imposing the trust on him and assured that as a team, the Board will work towards emboldening the sense of confidence to the industry during its most challenging time. He also voiced his appreciation of the young teams zeal to enhance the scope of business for members.

The new Board proposed to have 6 committees and designated members to lead each. The Networking & Business Event Committee will be led by Dharmendra Sawlani and includes Suchit Kumar and Ashok Kumar. The PR & Marketing Commitee has Suchit Kumar as Team Lead and includes Dharmendra Sawlani, Farah Anwar and Rishi Shah. The Membership Drive Committee will have Bharat Kewlani as Team Lead and Mohamed Giado, Hiren Vadodaria as well as Ashok Kumar. Sachin Gehani heads the Sports Commmitee which also includes Mohamed Giado and Sanjay Bansal. The CSR Commitee is led by Sanjay Bansal and also include Farah Anwar. finally, the Compliance & Grievances Committee is led by Bharat Kewlani and also has Raees Ahmed.
