Dubai, UAE – SelfDrive Mobility has rolled out its Back-to-School car rentals across Dubai and Abu Dhabi, offering flat monthly pricing from AED 1,049. For the first time, the expanded fleet now includes hatchbacks. With no penalties for early returns or extensions, the campaign targets students, parents, and professionals preparing to resume routine life this academic year.

Affordable and Flexible Mobility Solutions

The new Back-to-School car rentals meet the rising demand for short- and medium-term transport options. Each package includes 3,000 km per month, flexible rental durations of up to 12 months, and a seamless digital experience. Customers can book, compare, and manage vehicles entirely online, avoiding paperwork and branch visits. Moreover, transparent pricing ensures affordability while flexible terms provide peace of mind.

Mobility Trends Driving Demand

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority reported a 43% surge in rental vehicles in 2024, with more than 71,000 now operating across the emirate. Rental companies grew by 33%, while demand for premium and electric vehicles accelerated. Furthermore, with expatriates accounting for nearly 88% of the UAE’s population, the need for commitment-free mobility continues to rise. SelfDrive’s tech-enabled solutions respond directly to these market shifts, offering users choice without financial strain.

Hatchbacks Join the 2025 Lineup

This year’s highlight is the addition of compact, fuel-efficient hatchbacks. These cars are ideal for navigating city traffic and university campuses, complementing the existing lineup of sedans and SUVs. Every vehicle is dealer-maintained, insured, and available with transparent pricing. Additionally, users benefit from the freedom to return or extend their rentals without penalty, breaking away from the constraints of ownership or long-term leasing.

A Proven Mobility Tech Leader

Founded in the UAE in 2017, SelfDrive Mobility now serves over 1.5 million users across eight international markets. The platform offers access to more than 100 models from 50 global brands, positioning itself as a pioneer in app-based, flexible mobility. With this Back-to-School initiative, SelfDrive continues to transform how residents experience mobility, blending affordability, convenience, and innovation.

Geneva – Kempinski Hotels has announced strategic appointments designed to transform the Kempinski Hotels guest experience across its global portfolio. The group named three new Vice Presidents – Kristian Toivanen, Aurelia van Lynden, and Dan Clayton – to its newly formed product and experience team. Reporting to Chief Product & Experience Officer Rasha Lababidi, the trio will oversee wellness and spa, destination experiences, and gastronomy concepts. Together, they will enhance how guests connect with each property, blending creativity with flawless execution.

Wellness Appointments Strengthen Kempinski Hotels Guest Experience

Kristian Toivanen, the new Vice President of Wellness & Spa, brings decades of experience from luxury icons such as The Savoy and Claridge’s in London. Moreover, his leadership in global longevity and wellness resorts positions Kempinski Hotels at the forefront of a growing travel segment. As a result, wellness becomes more than a service—it becomes a defining element of the Kempinski Hotels guest experience.

Enriching Destination Experiences

Appointed Vice President of Experiences, Aurelia van Lynden joins with over 13 years of expertise in luxury travel. She previously worked at Abercrombie & Kent and held senior roles at Perowne International and Pelorus. Importantly, her work in curating bespoke experiences for ultra-high-net-worth travelers ensures that Kempinski Hotels can deliver memorable journeys rooted in authenticity. Transitioning from design to execution, she will oversee cultural immersion, adventure, and community-driven experiences.

Driving Culinary Innovation

Dan Clayton steps in as Vice President of Food and Beverage & Hospitality. His expertise in culinary storytelling, placemaking, and strategy—along with his role as founder of the well-known culinary platform FoodSheikh—strengthens Kempinski’s gastronomy vision. As dining continues to define travel memories, his leadership will shape restaurants, bars, and rituals that set Kempinski apart in competitive markets.

Aligning with Global Luxury Hospitality Trends

The global luxury hospitality market, valued at more than US$166 billion in 2025, is evolving rapidly. Travellers are now prioritizing wellness, cultural immersion, and authenticity over traditional amenities. Kempinski’s latest appointments directly align with these trends, ensuring the group remains at the forefront of experiential luxury.

Redefining the Luxury Hospitality Standard
