As organisations process more data closer to where it is generated, edge computing can enable faster decision-making, reduce latency and help manage bandwidth more efficiently. At the same time, increasingly sophisticated and data-intensive workloads are placing greater demands on storage performance, capacity, endurance and reliability.

“Edge computing is playing a growing role in the Middle East’s digital transformation as organisations bring intelligence and real-time processing closer to devices, infrastructure and operations,” said Antoine Harb, Team Leader Middle East, Kingston Technology. “That makes storage selection about more than capacity or performance.  Organisations need to select and qualify solutions based on the  workload, environmental conditions and expected lifecycle of the complete system before deployment.”

Storage requirements can vary considerably between edge applications. Write-intensive use cases such as smart surveillance, industrial production lines, oil and gas infrastructure and smart traffic management may continuously record, analyse and process data. For devices operating around the clock or in remote and difficult-to-access locations, storage endurance and reliability can therefore have a direct impact on system availability and maintenance requirements.

Edge deployments in the UAE can also present demanding operating conditions, particularly for equipment installed outdoors, in industrial environments or in locations where physical access is difficult. High temperatures, dust, vibration and continuous operation can place additional demands on embedded components, making environmental resilience and appropriate testing and qualification important considerations when selecting storage for its intended use.

Long-term availability is equally important for embedded and industrial deployments, where systems may remain operational for many years. Maintaining component consistency can help organisations avoid unnecessary redesign, requalification and replacement during the lifecycle of a deployment.

As more business and operational data is generated and processed at the edge, organisations must also consider data integrity and the protection of stored information as part of their overall system and security requirements.

“The lowest initial storage cost does not always translate into the lowest cost over the life of an edge system,” added Harb. “Reliability, endurance, maintenance, replacement requirements and long-term product availability all contribute to total cost of ownership. For large-scale or remote deployments in particular, choosing storage with the right characteristics from the outset can help support greater operational continuity.”

Resilience is not only about cash reserves, backup servers or alternative suppliers. It also depends on whether a company’s legal rights and permissions still work when the business is under pressure.

Resilience is discussed as an operational or financial discipline. Businesses test liquidity, back up systems and diversify supply chains. Yet every continuity plan rests on legal infrastructure: licenses, delegated authorities, contracts, data permissions, employment arrangements, security rights and evidence.

That infrastructure can fail when needed most. The replacement supplier cannot be appointed without third-party consent. Customer data cannot lawfully be moved to the backup provider. An insurance claim is compromized by late notification. A guarantee was signed incorrectly. The company owns a platform, but not all of its intellectual property.

The most dangerous legal risk is not the missing clause. It is the right management assumes the business has, but cannot use.

In the UAE, the Central Bank’s 2026 Operational Risk Management Regulation now requires licensed financial institutions to implement a comprehensive operational risk and resilience proecedure. The principle is valuable for every company: identify what must continue, locate the legal points of failure and test them before disruption does.

1. Can the business lawfully act?

Start with corporate authority, check that licenses match actual activities, constitutional documents reflect the ownership and governance structure, and beneficial-owner, shareholder and director records are accurate. Review reserved matters, signing matrices, powers of attorney and banking mandates.

A deal, borrowing or emergency payment can stall because the authorized signatory is unavailable, a power has expired or an approval threshold was misunderstood. Group companies should confirm which entity employs people, owns assets, contracts with customers and receives revenue.

Run this scenario: if the chief executive and chief financial officer were unreachable tomorrow, who could bind the company, access its accounts and appoint an alternative supplier? If the answer is uncertain, the business has a legal single point of failure.

• Which contracts become dangerous under stress?

Most contract reviews examine value and liability. A resilience review asks a different question: what happens when performance is interrupted?

Build a heat map of critical customer and supplier contracts, ranked by operational importance and consequence of failure. For each, test termination and suspension rights, force majeure and change-in-law provisions, service levels, price-adjustment mechanisms, liability caps, indemnities, insurance, governing law and dispute forum, subcontracting, assignment and change-of-control restrictions. Check notice methods and cure periods; a valuable right can disappear if a notice is sent late or to the wrong address.

Then examine optionality, can the company use a replacement supplier, obtain transition assistance, retrieve its data in a usable format and continue using essential intellectual property? Is there a source-code escrow or step-in mechanism where appropriate?

The aim is not to renegotiate every contract. It is to know which five contracts could stop the business and to fix those first.

• Can technology fail without the legal part failing too?

A technical recovery plan is incomplete if the contracts do not support it. Cloud, payment, telecommunications and managed-service arrangements should align promised recovery times with the company’s tolerance for disruption. Audit rights, incident cooperation, subcontractor controls, data-location commitments and exit assistance should be tested.

The incident playbook must allocate legal decisions. Who determines whether regulators, customers, insurers or affected individuals must be notified? Who preserves evidence and engages external advisers? How will legal privilege or professional confidentiality be preserved? A cyber incident moves quickly; ambiguity over decision-making wastes the hours that matter most.

Conduct an exercise with management, technology, legal, communications and finance. Introduce a realistic vendor outage or data breach and follow the contracts: who calls whom, what must be notified, and what can actually be recovered?

• Does the company know what data and technology it is using?

Across the GCC, privacy and cybersecurity regimes increasingly regulate how data is collected, processed, retained, transferred and protected. A company cannot comply, or recover confidently, without knowing where its data goes.

Create a data map covering customers, employees, vendors and website users. Record the purpose and legal basis for processing, storage location, access rights, retention period, cross-border transfers and third-party processors.

The same exercise should include artificial intelligence, by identifying public and embedded AI tools, the information supplied to them, the outputs relied upon and the human review applied. Confidential information, personal data and third-party intellectual property should not enter a tool because an employee can access it. An approved-use policy, procurement review and output-verification process are proportionate safeguards.

• Can the company protect value when conditions deteriorate?

Management should monitor covenant breaches, unpaid taxes, overdue receivables, expiring insurance, threatened claims and counterparties showing signs of insolvency. The legal team should know which rights permit suspension, security enforcement, contract termination or protective court relief, and whether exercising them could create risk.

People and intellectual property also require continuity planning. Confirm that employment and consultancy terms contain appropriate confidentiality, invention-assignment and post-termination protections, tailored to the governing law. Identify key-person dependencies, succession gaps and access held by departing staff. Register intellectual property where appropriate and maintain evidence of creation and ownership.

Business needs also to review insurance as a contract, not a certificate. Map material risks to coverage, exclusions, deductibles, notification deadlines and consent requirements. The policy is only useful if the company knows how to activate it.

In brief, the output should be that for every critical risk, record the business service affected, relevant entity and contract, responsible owner, required action, deadline and escalation threshold.

Report the highest exposures to the board and repeat the exercise after major acquisitions, restructurings, regulatory changes or technology deployments.

A focused review can produce four useful assets:

1. an authority and obligations calendar;
2. a critical-contract heat map;
3. a data and AI inventory; and
4. a tested incident playbook.

No company can remove disruption. It can, however, remove the uncertainty surrounding who may act, what must be done and which rights remain available.

Data from the report shows outsized growth in specialised roles, with Data Scientist hiring up 43% and AI Product Manager demand rising 37%. The concentration of growth in these functions indicates that organisations are directing hiring investment toward specific capabilities rather than expanding uniformly across all technology roles.

This pattern reflects a shift in regional workforce strategy, with employers increasingly directing resources toward roles that support data-driven decision-making, AI deployment, and product execution, rather than scaling traditional technology teams.

AI and Data Roles Redefine Hiring Priorities

The UAE leads globally in AI hiring growth, rising from 32% in 2023–24 to 48% in 2024–25. The acceleration is among the sharpest recorded in any market and is being fuelled by enterprise AI adoption, fintech automation and large-scale digital infrastructure projects. Saudi Arabia shows a similar direction of travel, though at a steadier pace, as AI talent demand expands across both public and private sectors.

RemotePass Co-founder and CEO Kamal Reggad, said the data shows organisations in the UAE and Saudi Arabia moving decisively from experimentation to execution. AI is no longer confined to innovation teams, he noted, but is increasingly embedded into core business functions, making workforce planning a critical lever of competitiveness.

MENA Talent Hubs Continue to Power the GCC

While demand is strongest in the Gulf, the wider MENA region remains central to meeting it. Egypt continues to lead hiring volume across nearly every major tech role, including software engineering, backend, frontend, data science and QA, confirming its position as the region’s largest tech talent exporter. Pakistan ranks second across several engineering categories, supported by a large and cost-effective developer base.

Egypt’s AI hiring growth, after surging by 112% in the previous year, has stabilised at 28% in 2025. In contrast, Gulf markets have accelerated, reinforcing a regional realignment in which the UAE and Saudi Arabia are emerging as the primary centres of advanced technology hiring, supported by a broader MENA talent ecosystem.

Sennheiser has leveraged its role in shaping professional audio to build strong hybrid communication products for use across business and education environments. We caught up with Fadi Costantine, Sales Manager – Business Communication, Middle East at Sennheiser, to discuss the brand’s presence at the show, its integrated product ecosystem, and the growing importance of software-driven audio solutions.

What are your most innovative products currently serving the business and education sectors?

Sennheiser operates across several business units, with Business Communication being one of our most important. This unit is entirely dedicated to the installation market, where many of our most dynamic and innovative solutions are positioned.

Professional audio is at the core of Sennheiser’s brand identity. Through our ownership of renowned brands such as Neumann and Merging Technologies, we have established ourselves as a global leader in audio communications. Which industry verticals are currently driving demand for these solutions in the region?

While we are active across multiple verticals in the region, we have a clear strategic commitment to deliver innovative, scalable, and future‑ready audio solutions tailored specifically for the needs of higher education and the modern corporate environment.

In corporate environments, our microphone solutions are widely deployed in meeting rooms to support modern collaboration and video conferencing scenarios. In the education sector, our technologies are extensively used in lecture halls and hybrid learning environments, including classrooms and auditoriums designed to accommodate both in-person and remote participants.

A strong example is our ceiling microphone solutions. These are frequently used not only in traditional meeting rooms but also in lecture halls for audio capture, video conferencing, and recording. They are also ideal for voice-lift applications, enabling students to hear the lecturer clearly without the need for wearable microphones. This creates a more natural, seamless teaching experience while minimizing complexity for the user.

Software and integration are critical in these environments. How does Sennheiser support this alongside its hardware solutions?

Workflow optimization has always been central to our product strategy and will remain a key focus going forward.

Introducing a new era in AV Management, at ISE 2026, Sennheiser will officially launch DeviceHub, a secure, cloud-based platform designed for IT and AV managers, as well as system integrators. DeviceHub centralizes device visibility and remote management, streamlining workflows across enterprise, education, and corporate settings.

In 2025, Sennheiser celebrated 80 years of audio innovation. From shaping the early days of wireless microphones to redefining modern enterprise communication, the Sennheiser brand continues to evolve alongside changing work and collaboration environments.

Over the past five years, Sennheiser has spotlighted its enterprise and hybrid communication solutions, designed to support seamless collaboration across meeting rooms, lecture halls, and professional content environments. We spoke with Mig Cardamone, Sales Director at Sennheiser, about the brand’s presence, its regional focus across the Middle East, East Africa, and Central Asia, and technologies shaping its future.

They draw on decades of Sennheiser audio expertise—experience that has kept us at the forefront of the industry for over 80 years. In 2025, we proudly celebrated Sennheiser’s 80th anniversary, both here in the region and globally. Our business communication portfolio clearly reflects how the brand has evolved while staying true to its core strengths.

Which products have you focussed on in the enterprise sector?

Sennheiser’s current product focus reflects a clear shift toward software‑enabled, fully integrated audio ecosystems designed for modern collaboration and learning environments. Rather than relying solely on hardware‑centric approaches, the company is increasingly investing in intelligent software layers, automation, and interoperability.

Sennheiser highlights three core application scenarios:

Meeting and Collaboration Spaces 

Ceiling‑mounted microphones and software‑based audio processing create a touchless, highly scalable solution for modern meeting environments. These systems integrate seamlessly with leading UC platforms and third‑party control systems.

Beyond the UAE, which regions does Sennheiser Middle East cover, and how are you approaching expansion?

Sennheiser Middle East is responsible for a broad and diverse territory that includes the Middle East, East Africa, English-speaking Africa, and Central Asia. Our expansion strategy is built around strong distribution partnerships.

We work closely with partners who offer both wide regional coverage and deep expertise in the verticals we serve. In the ICT space, we specifically look for partners capable of addressing both IT and AV markets, including unified communications and professional AV system integration channels.

After 80 years of innovation, if you had to choose one Sennheiser product that stands out personally, what would it be and why?

Over 80 years, Sennheiser has consistently pushed the boundaries of what’s possible in audio. We introduced one of the first commercially available wireless microphone systems for broadcast, pioneered RF condenser microphones, and created Orpheus—the world’s finest electrostatic headphone. There have been countless milestones along the way.

That said, I’m very much focused on the future. What excites me most today is Spectera. Launched last year, it is the world’s first wideband, bidirectional wireless ecosystem. Spectera fundamentally changes how wireless microphones are used across applications such as broadcast and live sound, and it is entirely software-defined. It represents the next major step in wireless audio innovation.

Redmi Note 15 Series Partners with Discovery Channel to Demonstrate Real-World Endurance

To showcase the Redmi Note 15 Series “diamond-grade durability,” Xiaomi has partnered with Discovery Channel on a co-branded campaign featuring explorer and survival expert Ed Stafford, renowned for his extreme outdoor challenges. Mijia Smart Audio Glasses: Style Meets Technology

Xiaomi also introduces the Xiaomi TV S Pro Mini LED Series in UAE, offering 75″, 65″, and 55″ QD-Mini LED models with 4K UHD resolution, 1700 nits peak brightness, Dolby Vision®, HDR10+, HLG, and Filmmaker Mode. With 144Hz native refresh rate, Mini LED local dimming, and low-reflection display technology, the series provides ultra-smooth visuals and vibrant, accurate color reproduction. Audio is powered by dual 15W speakers, Dolby Atmos, Harman AudioEFX, and Xiaomi Sound tuning, delivering immersive experiences for movies, gaming, and streaming. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, HDMI 2.1, USB, Ethernet, and built-in Google TV, Google Cast, and Apple AirPlay, offering seamless streaming and device integration.

“The data center industry is continuing to rapidly evolve how it designs, builds, operates and services data centers, in response to the density and speed of deployment demands of AI factories,” said Vertiv chief product and technology officer, Scott Armul. “We see cross-technology forces, including extreme densification, driving transformative trends such as higher voltage DC power architectures and advanced liquid cooling that are important to deliver the gigawatt scaling that is critical for AI innovation. On-site energy generation and digital twin technology are also expected to help to advance the scale and speed of AI adoption.”

The Vertiv Frontiers report builds on and expands Vertiv’s previous annual Data Center Trends predictions. The report identifies macro forces driving data center innovation: extreme densification—accelerated by AI and HPC workloads; gigawatt scaling at speed—data centers are now being deployed rapidly and at unprecedented scale; data center as a unit of compute—the AI era requires facilities to be built and operated as a single system; and silicon diversification—data center infrastructure must adapt to an increasing range of chips and compute.

The report details how these macro forces have in turn shaped five key trends impacting specific areas of the data center landscape.

1.         Powering up for AI

Most current data centers still rely on hybrid AC/DC power distribution from the grid to the IT racks, which includes three to four conversion stages and some inefficiencies. This existing approach is under strain as power densities increase, largely driven by AI workloads. The shift to higher voltage DC architectures enables significant reductions in current, size of conductors, and number of conversion stages while centralizing power conversion at the room level. Hybrid AC and DC systems are pervasive, but as full DC standards and equipment mature, higher voltage DC is likely to become more prevalent as rack densities increase. On-site generation, and microgrids, will also drive adoption of higher voltage DC.

2.         Distributed AI

The billions of dollars invested into AI data centers to support large language models (LLMs) to date have been aimed at supporting widespread adoption of AI tools by consumers and businesses. Vertiv believes AI is becoming increasingly critical to businesses but how, and from where, those inference services are delivered will depend on the specific requirements and conditions of the organization. While this will impact businesses of all types, highly regulated industries, such as finance, defense, and healthcare, may need to maintain private or hybrid AI environments via on-premise data centers, due to data residency, security, or latency requirements. Flexible, scalable high-density power and liquid cooling systems could enable capacity through new builds or retrofitting of existing facilities.

3.         Energy autonomy accelerates

Short-term on-site energy generation capacity has been essential for most standalone data centers for decades, to support resiliency. However, widespread power availability challenges are creating conditions to adopt extended energy autonomy, especially for AI data centers. Investment in on-site power generation, via natural gas turbines and other technologies, does have several intrinsic benefits but is primarily driven by power availability challenges. Technology strategies such as Bring Your Own Power (and Cooling) are likely to be part of ongoing energy autonomy plans.

4.         Digital twin-driven design and operations

With increasingly dense AI workloads and more powerful GPUs also come a demand to deploy these complex AI factories with speed. Using AI-based tools, data centers can be mapped and specified virtually, via digital twins, and the IT and critical digital infrastructure can be integrated, often as prefabricated modular designs, and deployed as units of compute, reducing time-to-token by up to 50%. This approach will be important to efficiently achieving the gigawatt-scale buildouts required for future AI advancements.

5.         Adaptive, resilient liquid cooling

AI workloads and infrastructure have accelerated the adoption of liquid cooling. But conversely, AI can also be used to further refine and optimize liquid cooling solutions. Liquid cooling has become mission-critical for a growing number of operators but AI could provide ways to further enhance its capabilities. AI, in conjunction with additional monitoring and control systems, has the potential to make liquid cooling systems smarter and even more robust by predicting potential failures and effectively managing fluid and components. This trend should lead to increasing reliability and uptime for high value hardware and associated data/workloads.

Purpose-built authority motorcycles on display

On display at the BMW Motorrad and AGMC stand are the four BMW Motorrad Authority models, each designed to deliver reliability, performance and adaptability in real-world operational conditions:

BMW R 1300 RT-P

The BMW R 1300 RT-P is a touring-focused authority motorcycle designed for high-performance patrol duties and everyday operational versatility. It combines excellent ergonomics and long-distance comfort with outstanding maneuverability in urban traffic. Powered by BMW’s 1,300 cc ShiftCam boxer engine delivering 145 hp and 149 Nm of torque, the RT-P provides strong, efficient performance and high stability for demanding authority use.

BMW R 1300 GS-P

The BMW R 1300 GS-P is a highly capable all-terrain authority motorcycle built for operation across mixed and challenging environments. Its air/liquid-cooled 1,300 cc boxer engine produces 145 hp and 149 Nm of torque, ensuring confident performance on and off road. Advanced rider assistance systems support stability, safety and control, making the GS-P a reliable platform for complex operational requirements.

BMW F 900 GS-P

The BMW F 900 GS-P is a versatile enduro motorcycle designed for authority operations on asphalt and unpaved surfaces. Its parallel-twin engine delivers strong, controllable performance, while the lightweight design and 14.5-litre plastic fuel tank contribute to improved handling and operational efficiency. The F 900 GS-P offers a balanced combination of agility, rider comfort and safety-focused technology.

BMW F 800 GS-P

The BMW F 800 GS-P is a proven midsize adventure motorcycle offering efficient performance and confident handling. With an output of 87 hp and a balanced chassis, it delivers dependable capability without excessive fuel consumption. Its manageable weight and rider-focused ergonomics support safe, controlled operation in demanding situations.

People now use their smartphones for way more. Smartphones have replaced a multitude of gadgets for everyday things like cameras, televisions, music players, and, to some extent, laptops. You no longer have to scramble for a laptop to send an urgent email or fumble with paper maps to navigate a strange city. Officially called the HUAWEI Mate XT ULTIMATE DESIGN, Huawei’s trifold smartphone was an answer to the growing demand for smartphones capable of multitasking and more immersive media consumption. Offering users the largest smartphone screen experience with a single 10.2-inch display that folds down into a convenient regular smartphone form factor, it expands the possibilities of smartphone interactions and multitasking.

Now, Huawei is expanding the Mate XT line with more colour options. Previously only available in Red and Black, the phone will be available starting next week in the white vegan leather finish. This new finish gives the device a more refined, minimalist aesthetic.

Despite widening competition, the Mate XT is still the benchmark for what a trifold smartphone can be. The Mate XT’s ingenious Z-shape folding method, where one side folds inward and one outward, has a unique benefit. It uses a single continuous display that unfolds into a tablet, and when folded to a regular smartphone size, one-third of that same screen becomes the outer display. It’s a cleaner, more coherent experience.

Trifold experiments from other brands also fall short of Mate XT in charging speeds, battery capacity and screen resolution. Even a whole year and few months after the initial release, the Mate XT is still the slimmest and lightest trifold in the market. Performance and durability follow the same pattern. The groundbreaking Advanced Precision Hinge System, made of ultra-strong, high-strength steel, offers a smooth, effortless and precise opening and closing experience.

A year on, the Mate XT remains the trifold smartphone others measure themselves against. It’s a category that Huawei created, defined, and continues to push forward while everyone else is still trying to catch up.
