Arada opens major Aljada access road, unlocking faster connectivity with key Sharjah destinations
Arada has officially opened the access road connecting the Aljada megaproject in Sharjah to a major arterial route for the first time. The entry and exit point linking the community and Al Dhaid Road (E88/S128) unlocks faster connectivity for both residents and visitors to Aljada with a wide range of key Sharjah destinations.
The link road will allow motorists to enter or exit Aljada via East Boulevard, one of the megaproject’s two main avenues, adjacent to the Nest student housing complex. Residents of Aljada will now have much easier access to major sites located along Al Dhaid Road, including the next-door Sharjah Research, Technology and Innovation Park (SRTIP), University City, House of Wisdom, and the Al Jawaher Reception & Convention Centre, all of which are now within a five-minute drive.
Students staying at Nest will also be able to easily access a series of nearby institutions such as University of Sharjah, Higher Colleges of Technology and American University of Sharjah via the complimentary shuttle bus services that are laid on for all Nest residents. In addition, students will also be able to benefit from the new pedestrian and cycling routes that the link provides, supported by Arada’s sustainability mobility solution, Yalla Bikes.
The new link also creates direct connectivity with Sharjah International Airport, a fast-growing hub currently welcoming over 15 million passengers every year, opening up an easily accessible stopover destination for dining, retail and entertainment for tourists and residents alike.
The inauguration of the link took place on 30 October, with officials from Arada, Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority (SCDTA), Sharjah Research, Technology and Innovation Park (SRTIP) and Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority (SRTA) all attending a ceremony to mark the occasion.
Amit Arora, Chief Operating Officer of Arada said: “This is a major milestone for Aljada, enhancing accessibility, reducing journey times and improving traffic flow for visitors and residents of one of the UAE’s fastest-growing projects.
“Aljada continues to cement its position as the most exciting new destination in Sharjah, with around 30% of the community’s 25,000 homes now completed, alongside a wealth of other entertainment, retail, educational and sporting attractions.”
HE Khalid Jasim Al Midfa, Chairman of the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority, said: “This project represents a significant milestone that embodies Sharjah’s vision for enhancing quality of life and upgrading infrastructure. It plays a crucial role in fostering economic and tourism growth in the region while creating a harmonious environment that blends comfort and luxury, thereby supporting our commitment to sustainable development. We firmly believe that connecting communities to key destinations not only facilitates movement but also enriches the visitor experience, making Sharjah an increasingly attractive destination for investment and tourism.”
“Our ambition is to lead the way in sustainable urban development, where innovative technological solutions align with environmental initiatives to guarantee a high quality of life for all residents. Our strategy focuses on improving accessibility to facilities and services, positioning Sharjah as the preferred choice for work, living, and tourism.”
Residents and visitors can already enjoy a variety of amenities, including the SABIS International School-Aljada, a Wellfit flagship gym, the Zad food truck park, and the Aljada Skate Park, all surrounded by lush green landscapes. East Boulevard, a tree-lined shopping avenue, has quickly become a central shopping and lifestyle destination within the AED35 billion megaproject. This vibrant spot features 87 new shops, cafes, and restaurants, making it one of the most popular social hubs in the UAE.
Spanning 24 million square feet, Aljada is Sharjah’s largest project to date, transforming the Emirate with its residential districts, hospitality, entertainment, sports, education, healthcare, and a business park—all within a walkable, green community.

The Graduate’s Guide to the Maldives

Graduation season lands differently when you’ve spent three or four years surviving deadline season, exam halls and budget pasta. The urge to go somewhere to treat yourself is entirely real.
For university and postgraduates mapping out a summer before recruitment season kicks in, Eri Maldives delivers the Maldives in its purest form, with a price point that makes a spontaneous booking feel less like a gamble and more like a very sensible decision.
An Easy Stop on the Asia Circuit
Male’ International Airport is where you can fly into from various Asian capital cities via direct flights, including regional hubs such as Singapore, Bangkok, Colombo, Kuala Lumpur, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Seoul, and Mumbai, making Eri an easy and logical addition to a multi-destination itinerary that might already be taking in Southeast Asia.
From Male’, the resort is just 45 minutes by speedboat. There is no domestic flight, no inter-island transfer, no additional carbon footprint calculation. It is the perfect detour to bundle a Maldives taster into a longer trip, with the island fitting as a three-night stopover.

Graduate-Friendly Prices in One of the World’s Most Iconic Destinations
The case for Eri doesn’t require softening. A Studio or Beach Villa on Full Board is priced in the £170–£300 (approx. €200–€350) per night range.
To put that in context, a 3-night stay for two, Full Board, with a handful of activities – such as guided snorkelling, a snorkelling safari, an hour of catamaran sailing, and an hour on a SUP board can come in at approximately only £750 (approx. €870) per person, meaning that the total cost of a full stay can be less than the price of a single night at other ultra-luxury counterparts.
Current Summer Escape and Last Minute Island Reset deals offer up to 40% off all room types for stays before 31 October, alongside 10% spa discounts, 15% discounts on select excursions and non-motorised water sports, and other complimentary perks.
Come for the Reef
Eri’s house reef is among the most active and accessible in North Malé Atoll: clear, warm waters averaging 27–29°C year-round, strong marine biodiversity, and conditions that suit first-timers and seasoned divers alike. Reef sharks, manta rays and eagle rays are consistent sightings across the atoll.
Close to the resort, the most reliable residents are turtles. 14 of them are already individually identified by the resident dive team through distinctive shell markings, flipper formations and carapace patterns, each with a name and a documented history. In several cases, the names were given by guests. You can meet the full community in the Eri Turtle Spotting Guide & Directory.
Eri’s water sports menu also reads like an antidote to burnout. On the surface, there’s complimentary guided snorkelling on the house reef, dedicated turtle-search snorkelling tours, longer Snorkelling Safaris by boat, catamaran sailing, SUP, jet ski rides, waterski, wakeboard, and windsurfing lessons.
Why Graduation Is the Right Moment to Learn to Dive
The window post-graduation is time entirely yours. Learning to dive during this time means acquiring a certification valid for life, transferable across every ocean, and one that permanently changes your relationship with every coastal destination you’ll ever visit.
Eri’s Euro-Divers Dive & Water Sports Centre is a fully-equipped PADI 5-Star operation with access to 30 dive sites across North Malé Atoll, spanning coral gardens, channel dives, thilas, and drift dives through current-rich passes. Courses run from entry-level Open Water Diver through to Advanced Open Water, Drift Diver, and Rescue Diver, with all equipment included. For certified divers, the welcome lagoon dive is complimentary, with 5-, 10- and 15-dive packages scaling up to a 6-Day Intensive Plan with nitrox fill options, and boat trips available for single-tank, two-tank, and full-day dives.
When the fins come off, the Eskape Spa offers a natural close to the day. Healing Aromatherapy, the Maldivian Ocean Dream, and a Back to Life massage helps guests to recharge and restore their energy.

SUN SIYAM VILU REEF DEBUTS NEW OVERWATER VILLAS THAT REDEFINE ISLAND LIVING
In a milestone moment for the resort, Sun Siyam Vilu Reef today officially unveiled its new Ocean Signature Villas with Pool and Slide during an exclusive launch event attended by local media, partners and VIP guests. The unveiling was led by Sun Siyam Founder, Chairman and Managing Director, Hon. Ahmed Siyam Mohamed, who introduced the resort’s most ambitious villa transformation to date. Sun Siyam Vilu Reef, part of Sun Siyam’s Privé Collection, has added 50 new overwater villas collectively known as the Ocean Signature Villas with Pool and Slide, comprising 48 one bedroom and two two-bedroom retreats. Marking the resort’s most significant transformation in years and its boldest design statement to date, this new chapter invites guests into a world where the playful and the peaceful coexist, elevated by warm Maldivian hospitality and experiences rooted in genuine island sophistication.

Designed for those who seek both connection and space, the Ocean Signature Villas with Pool and Slide are available in one and two-bedroom configurations and command the finest lagoon vistas and uninterrupted sunrise to sunset views. Whether travelling as a couple or a family, the setting feels equally suited to quiet seclusion and shared adventure. Inside, the interiors are as considered as the setting. A hidden privacy divider and expansive lounge with 65″ display sit alongside a discreet integrated pantry for effortless in-villa dining. Dramatic arch details run throughout, and the layout flows naturally from the bedroom through to the dressing area and into an open-plan bathroom complete with a freestanding tub and dual vanities. Each bedroom has its own private en-suite and 50″ TV for quieter moments.
Outside, the sun-drenched decks are a destination in their own right. A signature overwater hammock looks out across the lagoon, a secluded pool offers a more private place to unwind, and an exhilarating 11-metre water slide provides the kind of moment that tends to feature heavily in the holiday recap. It is a rare balance to strike, genuine luxury that also knows how to have fun.
“Sun Siyam Vilu Reef is where the Sun Siyam story began, so this moment is especially meaningful for us. As we enter a new chapter, our focus remains simple: creating exceptional experiences while staying true to the warmth and hospitality that define who we are ”, said Hon. Ahmed Siyam Mohamed, Founder, Chairman and Managing Director of Sun Siyam.
Aiming to introduce a refined design language to the resort, Sun Siyam partnered with international interior design consultants Lee McNichol and Jose Rivero who are the Founders and Creative Directors of the London-based Studio Sixty7, to lead the transformation in bringing this distinctive concept to life. The interiors are defined by a rich aesthetic character, where natural textures and softly sculpted curves mirror the movement and serenity of the azure Maldivian waters.
“Studio Sixty7’s vision for this new luxury overwater villa in the Maldives balances calm minimalism with bold expression. White timber-paneled walls create a light, serene backdrop, contrasted by a deep blue ceiling that reflects the richness of the surrounding ocean. Arched ceiling details guide movement through the space, echoed in the soft, curved forms of the bespoke timber joinery. Recessed lighting is seamlessly integrated to enhance the architecture, casting a warm, subtle glow. Locally made artwork adds depth and authenticity, grounding the design in its Maldivian context. The result is a refined, immersive escape at that feels both tranquil and distinctive.” says Lee McNichol and Jose Rivero, Founders of Studio Sixty7.
“Our goal was to create something truly beyond exceptional. Working alongside award-winning creative minds, we are debuting a series of overwater signature villas that possess a completely renewed soul and appearance,” says Mr Masdhooq Saeed, Cluster General Manager of Sun Siyam Vilu Reef and Sun Siyam Iru Veli. “These overwater villas are entirely unique to the Maldives, offering a diverse range of grand sizes and rare structural layouts. Each is meticulously designed to serve as an immersive, luxurious sanctuary where avant-garde design meets the timeless beauty of the surrounding ocean. “
Officially unveiled on 15 June by Sun Siyam Founder, Chairman and Managing Director Hon. Ahmed Siyam Mohamed during the resort’s exclusive “A New Rhythm of the Reef” launch event, the Ocean Signature Villas signal a bold new chapter for Sun Siyam Vilu Reef. Blending imaginative design, immersive experiences and heartfelt Maldivian hospitality, they introduce a fresh rhythm to island living while honouring the spirit that has defined the resort since its beginnings.
