Mimecast to perform live hacking at GITEX 2016

Published

on

Mimecast Limited, a leading email and data security company, announced that it is participating in GITEX Technology Week 2016 along with its distributor Bulwark Technologies. The company plans to showcase its full-range of email and data security solutions and services, and demonstrate how it can protect customers against advanced spear-phishing and whaling attacks with its Targeted Threat Protection service at the region’s largest ICT exhibition, which is being held from October 16-20, 2016 at the Dubai World Trade Centre.

“Our recently released research* reveals that organizations globally believe that they are their own worst enemy when it comes to cybersecurity, with 45 percent saying they are ill-equipped to cope with the threat of malicious insiders and 90 percent calling malicious insiders a major threat to the organizations’ security. Email continues to remain the attack vector of choice for cyber-criminals, where they are constantly evolving their tactics to breach the organization’s security by bypassing traditional email security defenses. This holds true for all organizations including those in the Middle East,” says Brandon Bekker, Managing Director at Mimecast MEA.

“At GITEX 2016, our security experts will discuss the top email attack strategies being used by cybercriminals and demonstrate how these work by performing a series of live hacks for visitors at our stand. We plan to highlight how our cloud-based email security services and our capabilities of Targeted Threat Protection, help reduce the risk, complexity and costs traditionally associated with protecting email. We look forward to meeting our existing and prospective customers and partners and scout for new partners in countries where we do not have a strong presence,” Bekker adds.

As part of its GITEX 2016 plans, Mimecast will promote Mimecast Email Security, which protects against malware, spam, advanced phishing and other emerging attacks, while preventing data leaks, Mimecast Mailbox Continuity, which enables employees to continue using email during planned and unplanned outages, and Mimecast Enterprise Information Archiving, which unifies email, file and instant messaging data to support e-discovery and give employees fast access to their personal archive via PC, Mac and mobile apps.

Mimecast will also showcase its email security cloud service designed to protect customers from the growing threat from email attacks known as CEO Fraud, Business Email Compromise or whaling. The service, known as Impersonation Protect, extends Mimecast’s Targeted Threat Protection, the company’s comprehensive email security protection against spear-phishing attacks with malicious links and weaponized attachments.

A recognized leader in information email archiving, the company was named a ”Leader” in the 2015 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Enterprise Information Archiving. Earlier this year, Mimecast announced that it joined the Coalition for Cybersecurity Policy and Law, bringing the company’s deep email security and cyber resilience expertise to help advance the Coalition’s efforts.

Mimecast will also be hosting an event at the Conrad Hotel aimed at teaching business decision makers about the importance of building a ‘human firewall’ by not only deploying advanced security technology, but by educating their employees on how to interrogate their emails and protect the business and themselves from becoming a victim of cybercrime.

Mimecast is exhibiting at stand C1-20, Hall 1. Senior global executives and security experts from the company will be available at GITEX 2016 to meet with customers and partners and share their global experiences, expertise and successes with them.

The World’s Largest Tech Show Expands to New Heights, Showcasing the Future of AI and UAE’s Vision for Technology

Businesses across the world are greeting up to embark on an exhilarating journey into the heart of technological innovation as GITEX Global 2023, the 43rd edition of the world’s most iconic tech exhibition, opens its doors in the vibrant city of Dubai. This extraordinary event, a four-decade-strong pillar of the tech industry, is set to unite visionaries, investors, and tech enthusiasts from across the globe. With the theme “Imagine AI in Everything,” GITEX Global 2023 promises an immersive exploration of artificial intelligence’s far-reaching influence on modern life.

GITEX Global 2023 is poised to make history as it expands across not one but two colossal venues in Dubai – the Dubai World Trade Centre and Dubai Harbour. An astounding 41 halls of exhibition space will house tech giants and trailblazing startups specialising in AI, Cybersecurity, Mobility, Sustainable Tech, and a cornucopia of other cutting-edge fields.

Innovation Unleashed
Tech aficionados, industry leaders, and innovators are on the edge, eagerly awaiting five days of mind-bending conferences, hands-on workshops, carefully curated networking opportunities, and the chance to forge game-changing business partnerships. But that’s not all – attendees will also witness the unveiling of the latest technological wonders, some of which are still hidden from the public eye.
What sets GITEX Global 2023 apart is its unparalleled thematic focus on artificial intelligence. Over the past year, AI has stealthily infiltrated every facet of our lives, from healthcare and finance to transportation and entertainment, transforming industries and enhancing efficiency. GITEX Global 2023 aims to showcase the potential and reality of AI applications, revealing how they are slashing operating costs and revolutionising business operations.

“Earlier this year, we witnessed an astonishing 464% surge in email-based phishing attacks during the first half of 2023 compared to the previous year, all while the UAE maintained its position as the region’s cybersecurity stronghold. At GITEX 2023, Acronis is dedicated to meeting the pressing demand for robust cyber protection solutions in the Middle East, where research predicts cybercrime damage will escalate to $100 billion by 2025.
Furthermore, Acronis will discuss the prudent utilization of emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, IoT, Quantum Computing, and 5G. These technologies, including deepfake in phishing attacks, cybercrime, and cyber threats, will be examined closely. Acronis takes pride in showcasing cutting-edge innovations in cyber protection, with a substantial focus on leveraging AI to combat cyberattacks” said Ziad Nasr, General Manager, Acronis Middle East.

A Festival of Innovation

The GITEX Global 2023 experience extends far beyond the main event. It’s a sprawling ecosystem comprising ten co-located shows, each an adventure in its own right. These include GITEX Global, AI Everything, GITEX Impact, Future Urbanism, GLOBAL Devslam, Superbridge Summit Dubai, Expand North Star, Fintech Surge, Future Blockchain Summit, and Marketing Mania. What unites them all is the spirit of innovation, collaboration, and the relentless pursuit of discovery.

“This is our third consecutive year participating at GITEX, and we’re excited about what’s in store. Exhibitions like these give us a great opportunity and platform to interact with people and potential customers and highlight what Cloudera can do by showing them the product experience first-hand.

Our focus at Gitex this year is on bringing Large Language Models (LLM) to companies instead of getting their data to the LLM. Cloudera enables customers to manage and unlock value from their data across private and public cloud environments. Generative AI and LLMs are only as good as the data they’ve been trained on, and they need the right context. For these models and AI to succeed, it must be trusted. And trusting AI starts with trusting your data.” said Ahmad Shakora, Group Vice President of Emerging Markets – Middle East, Turkey and Africa – at Cloudera.

UAE’s Vision for Tech

The core of GITEX Global 2023 lies in the United Arab Emirates’ vision for AI and technology. As the UAE continues to invest in groundbreaking technology and nurture an ecosystem where tech startups can thrive, the event is a testament to the nation’s commitment to becoming a global technology epicentre.
The countdown to GITEX Global 2023 is reaching its climax, and the excitement is palpable. This is the event where imaginations will run wild, innovations will take centre stage, and the future of technology will be unveiled. Brace yourself for a whirlwind five days of tech-driven excellence as GITEX Global 2023 invites the world to “Imagine AI in Everything.”
